Yoh Index Reports Continued Strength in Tech Wages

PHILADELPHIA—July 23, 2007—Wages for highly-skilled technology professionals in 2007 continue to surpass pay rates from 2006, and remained strong this year. According to the Yoh Index of Technology Wages, the quarterly compensation index used by Fortune 500 companies to determine salary scales, the average hourly wage for high-impact technology workers was recorded at $31.61 during the middle of the second quarter of 2007, only a slight dip from last quarter's $31.80, the highest average wage recorded by the Yoh Index of Technology Wages since its inception in 2001.

"It's not unusual for overall pay rates to follow slow spring and summer hiring trends, but technology wages still held on strong this year and continued to improve over 2006," says Jim Lanzalotto, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing for Yoh.  "Despite a recent report that tech professionals were less confident about jobs this past month, top talent has every reason to stay confident about the job market. We are seeing a good, steady pace for hiring tech professionals with high-level skills and deep-rooted industry experience. We should keep an eye out for more competitive wages to come during the remainder of 2007, and into 2008 as the marketplace continues to heat up."

The Yoh Index of Technology Wages reached 112.93 during the second quarter of 2007, when indexed to January 2001 (1/2001 = 100), indicating a 4.29% increase in wage growth, when compared with the same period in 2006.

Compiled quarterly by Yoh, one of the world's largest recruiting services firms for high-impact technology and professional talent, the Yoh Index of Technology Wages is used by emerging technology and Fortune 500 firms as a guide for determining their quarterly salary scales. Each Yoh Index of Technology Wages report identifies the top job titles in highest demand and provides an index to compare current average wages over the same period last year.
